The youth are the future, as every generation has known, but what are we doing to ensure that they’re in the best possible shape to go out into the world and fix the social, environmental, and political issues that our generation doesn’t have the answers for? While we can look to our schools to do a lot of the legwork, the reality is that we all have responsibilities when it comes to making sure the boys of today become the right kinds of men tomorrow. Below, we take a look at some of the ways you can have a positive impact:

Volunteer Your Skills
You don’t have to be anyone special to lend a hand to the youth. In fact, anyone with enthusiasm and determination to make a difference can do so. There are plenty of organizations across the country that could do with your help. Remember, not everything is taught in schools, and the world needs people with skills to teach our boys the right path to the future. If you want to make a difference, get in touch. It’ll be rewarding for you, and might be life-changing for the children you help.
Use Your Position as an Authority Figure
Some positions carry with them an inherent respect, and as such they can have a massive influence on children. If you’re a teacher, police officer, or another type of authority figure, then you already have a huge influence – the key is to make sure you’re using it positively. If you’re a police officer, then there are online police courses that’ll help you navigate the changing face of society and the responsibilities of leadership. You’re more than just someone who enforces the law, or who teaches science, or anything else: you’re a role model, and your actions may make all the difference to a young child.
Be the Change
Of course, while it’s beneficial to engage with the children on a one-to-one level, remember that even if you don’t have the skills to talk with and inspire boys in this way, there are others you can do it. Simply living your life as the change you’d like to see in the world can be effective. If you want to see more respect in the world, then be more respectful. If you want people to care about the planet more, then care about the planet more! If a child sees confident people following their dreams and having a positive impact, then they’ll be much more likely to do the same when they’re older.
Remember Your Responsibilities
It’s easy to pass the buck when it comes to the future of the planet. Of course, you’re not able to change everything, but you can make small changes. Everyone has the responsibility ensure that the future is brighter than the past. Keep this in mind as you’re living your life, and you’ll be on the right path towards a better future: for you, for society, for the children.
